Welcome to the
Mauna Loa Café
Featuring Premium Hawaiian Coffees from Hualalai and Mauna Loa
Kona coffee is the market name for coffee (Coffea arabica) cultivated on the slopes of Hualalai and Mauna Loa in the North and South Kona Districts of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is one of the most expensive coffees in the world. Only coffee from the Kona Districts can be described as "Kona". The weather of sunny mornings, cloud or rain in the afternoon, little wind, and mild nights combined with porous, mineral-rich volcanic soil create favorable coffee growing conditions.
Kona Mountain Private Reserve Peaberry Roast
We now have our famous one of a kind Peaberry coffee in a "Medium Roast" along with our Dark Roast
A peaberry bean grows only at the tips of the Kona Coffee branches. We roast ours as a dark roast. Peaberry is very smooth with no acid after taste. Only about 5 percent of the total Kona Coffee harvest is peaberry. Top grades (in descending order) include Extra Fancy, which is the only grade we specialize in, Fancy, No. 1 and Prime. All of our flavored coffees are medium roasted and naturally flavored. Our 100% Pure Kona Coffee Decaf is Swiss water processed in regular and flavored.
Kona Mountain Private Reserve Peaberry Roast is as smooth as any kona coffee, yet has a bright acidity while managing to have a combination of floral and caramel aromas to go with citrusy and nutty flavors.
